Summer can be one of the busiest seasons of the year. Between vacations, camps, sporting events, family gatherings, outdoor projects and work responsibilities, it’s easy for self-care to move to the bottom of the priority list.
Unfortunately, that’s often when we need it most.
Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s a way of maintaining the energy, focus and resilience needed to care for the people and responsibilities that matter most.
PHMP Health Coach Linn recognizes the challenges of summer schedules: “Summertime can be very busy for families with vacations, summer camps, outdoor projects and hobbies, yardwork, and other daily obligations. This can make it difficult to find time to take care of yourself.“
The good news is that self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate. Linn suggests that something as simple as enjoying a quiet cup of coffee or tea in the morning can provide a meaningful moment to recharge.
Self-care can also take many forms.

Some days, self-care may mean taking a walk outside. Other days, it may involve setting boundaries, calling a friend, reading a book, organizing your finances or getting a good night’s sleep. The goal is to intentionally care for yourself in a way that supports your overall health.
PHMP Health Coach Carlos reminds us, “Managing stress and taking care of emotional wellness are important parts of overall health.“
As America celebrates 250 years of history and progress, consider one way you can honor your own well-being this month. Just a few minutes of intentional self-care each day can help improve resilience, reduce stress and support long-term health.
