Appetite loss while battling cancer with standardized treatment plans is common. Reactions to drugs surgery or radiation will leave us nauseous and lackluster accompanied with vomiting.  But it’s still totally possible to get good wholesome nutrition as we battle cancer and reclaim our health.  Enter…..green healthy juices drinks and teas!

Raw, live food drinks are so great as they ease the burden on your digestive system.  Live enzymes, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients packed with antioxidants are crucial to healing!  So much energy is taken when chewing and digesting food, and drinking live real drinks is one way to save your body the energy of all that and just quickly assimilate live fresh juices and healthy teas made with spices and herbs. Use your energy to focus on healing! Try these delicious and nutritious drinks AM, Noon and PM:

Organic Beet, Apple, Carrot Juice –drink in the AM for a blast of energy!

1 beet root,

1 carrot

1 apple

Wash, cut into pieces leaving skin on. Put into the juicer and immediately drink. You don’t need an expensive juicer for this, juice in a Nutribullet1.

Easy Ginger Root Tea – try this anytime you feel nauseous or after a meal.  

Ginger root’s amazing properties have been repeatedly documented to have anti-cancer and tumor reducing properties.  Other benefits: ginger reduces nausea if you are suffering post chemo or radiation side effects.  Ginger stimulates appetites and warms you.

1 teaspoon of grated ginger root

1 cup boiling water

Honey (optional)

If desired, a squeeze of fresh lemon

Place the ginger in a teapot. Add the boiling water and allow it to steep for 5-10 minutes.

Warm Cocoa – try this comfort drink in the PM

Warm cocoa is very good for you when made with natural ingredients. Researchers at Cornell University found that cocoa has nearly twice the antioxidant power of red wine and up to three times of green tea. The phytonutrients that give raw cocoa its power are known as flavonoids. Catechins and epicatechins are found in high amounts and are well researched for their health promoting capabilities. One finding is that the flavonoids in cocoa are absorbed intact into the bloodstream – allowing maximum benefit to be derived. A study stated that increasing antioxidants such as cacao can protect humans from diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and arthritis.

Look for raw, organic cacao in your local grocery or online health food sources.

Mix 2-3 teaspoons raw cacao powder in 6-8 oz. coconut, almond or chia seed milks. If desired, add a teaspoon of raw coconut oil for extra dense nutrients.   Sweeten with pure vanilla extract and some raw local honey.  Add a touch of cinnamon and voila!  You have a healthy, comfort food drink!
