Who Dat Say Dey Gonna Beat Dem Saints? ….  It’s the question that New Orleans natives like Ashley Forrestier have been asking for years.  It’s also the question that the rest of the sports world has been asking as the Saints close out their record-breaking  season as the 2010 NFL Super Bowl Champions.  The Saints showed the world this season that winning is what they do best and Forrestier wanted to thank her hometown team by doing for them what she does best.

The R&B singer/songwriter teamed up with her producer,  Alverez the MostCold and composed “WHO DAT [Going to the SuperBowl]” and “WHO DAT [SUPERBOWL] VICTORY REMIX“, two  brewing, infectious before-and-after versions of a song  that is igniting a Black & Gold movement with pride and unity.  It captures a moment in time that can be felt by the entire Who Dat Nation, which, like its team, has had to overcome some major obstacles.  The song is less of a “locker-room fight anthem” and more of a celebration of the city’s and the Saints’ victory in the fight against all odds.

Forrestier feels strongly about her team because for her, like many other Saints fans, this winning season and victory in the SuperBowl are more than just a game.

Morris, 71, has split his time the last few months courting advertisers for Vevo, he said in a Dec. 2 interview. The site will be introduced tomorrow at an event in New York where Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are scheduled to attend. AT&T Inc., McDonalds Corp. and MasterCard Inc. have agreed to advertise, according to New York-based Vevo.

Vevo, powered by Google Inc.’s YouTube and featuring music videos, concert footage, interviews and original content, allows record labels to attract premium-prices for ads while controlling how music is viewed and distributed online, Morris said. The effort to reverse the industry’s decline may be Morris’s final salvo as he prepares to hand over the reins at Universal to international music head Lucian Grainge.

“The music business has been taken advantage of for years,” said Morris. “This is our opportunity with Vevo to take back control of our product.”

Vevo is co-owned by Vivendi SA’s Universal Music, Sony Corp. and the Abu Dhabi Media Co. Terra Firma Partners Ltd.’s London-based EMI Group Ltd., the label of Norah Jones and Coldplay, will provide material as part of a licensing accord announced today. Negotiations to add material from Warner Music Group Corp. are ongoing, people familiar with the matter said.

Record companies are trying to capture the growth in online ads and offset an almost 50 percent decline in U.S. album sales from 2000 to 2008, as measured by Nielsen SoundScan. Global ad spending for online videos is projected to more than triple to $7.6 billion by 2012, according to New York-based researcher eMarketer.

YouTube, which generates more than 1 billion views per day, is projected by Credit Suisse to lose $470 million in 2009. The company sees Vevo as a way to expand beyond advertising by licensing its software, said Chris Maxcy, director of content partnerships at YouTube.

“We do think it’s going to be a good business opportunity,” Maxcy said.

Universal Music’s revenue fell 5.2 percent to $2.78 billion in the 9 months through September, even as digital sales surged 21 percent. At Edgar Bronfman Jr.’s publicly traded Warner Music, digital sales grew 10 percent for the year ended in September while overall revenue fell 9 percent.

Independent film veteran Zoe Lister Jones (Rebecca) plays the female lead. “It boasts a roster of local producers in Spencer Kiernan (Brady’s brother), Todd Cobery, and Jasmine Reid, who has been active in local film for almost a decade. Keri Hilson: It’s doing very well. Especially given this industry—even though the business is hurting, the album is still achieving its projections. I’m proud of the album, but you can never expect how the world will receive you or your music.

So far, your biggest hits have been performed by other artists—Britney Spears, Omarion. Does that fact bother you at all?

Keri Hilson: No, it’s money in the bank. That’s my means of living. There’s two sides of me, and neither takes preference. One is just a dream that I fought long and hard for. Songwriting was my Plan B. My whole life, I’ve fought to just do this. I didn’t know that I’d be able to take off as far, or as fast, as I did, but I knew I had a talent and that I should pursue it, because there’s money in it. When I wasn’t able to perform, and lost the record deal, I took the path of Plan B, and now I love them equally. I can’t have one without the other. Even at my biggest, I want to be writing for other artists. Even at my peak—the highest I can be as an artist—I always want to be keeping my creative juices flowing, keeping money in the bank, putting my intellectual property out there

Hip Hop for HIV Awareness is slated to be the single largest testing event in the United States. The goal of the campaign is to provide free and confidential HIV and syphilis screening to 15,000 youth and young adults between the ages of 15-40 in the City of Houston. Free testing begins Monday, June 22 for four consecutive days at the NAACP Family Technology Center located at 4203 Fannin Street in Houston and will continue through July 10th at various other locations across the city.

Hip Hop for HIV Awareness encourages youth and young adults to receive free testing and consultation.  Each person tested will receive one ticket to a star-studded concert featuring national recording artists Plies, Pleasure P, Day 26, Melanie Fiona, Bobby Valentino, LeToya Luckett, Twista, Yung Problemz, Yung L.A., G.T., Gorilla Zoe, Bun B and Ginuwine.

The concert event will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in Houston at The George R. Brown Convention Center from 2:00p – 6:00p. Only those tested for HIV and receiving their results will be issued a ticket for admittance.

The HIV epidemic is a growing concern. African Americans, women and youth are among the fastest growing population of new HIV infections. There are 18,404 individuals known living with HIV in Houston/ Harris County and an estimated 3,500 to 4,500 individuals living with undiagnosed HIV infection. Every 9 ½ minutes someone is infected with HIV in the United States.
